The AKC Canine Good Citizen Test is a test designed for dog owners to demonstrate that their dog is well trained and behaved in a public setting. During the test the judge will look at the dog’s ability to listen to the owner’s commands, asses its reactions towards other people and dogs and see how the dog reacts to and copes with mildly stressful situations.
A more experienced owner could easily train their dog for the test themselves but there are also plenty of dog schools which offer classes for it! Below is a video from SmartyPup! which goes through all the 10 steps of the test, check it out 🙂
